Importance of Certification:
What impact would this have on the film?
The film is rated as a 15. this would allow the majority of people to be able to see the film, it would allow people under the age of 18 to be able to watch the film. This proved benficail as it was popular with the younger audience as they gave it a higher rating than those of 25 and above. However, because of the age restriction it didnt allow family viewings which would have stopped people from wanting to view the film and also would cut down the amount of possible intake.
Media Convergence:
What are the benefits of a production blog?
A production blog can allow the audience to see small clips and backstage action and allows them to feel involved with the making of the film. This would then entice them to keep track of what is happening and then to watch the finished piece. Also it helps that if the audience sees the actors having a good time making the film; then they know that it is likely to be a good film, as they are more relaxed in the way that they are acting. With the combination of these it allows the audience to keep tabs on what is happening and also have an insight to the type of story. All of these draws the audience into the film and makes them want to see the finished product.
Who would be looking at production blogs?
The people that are most likely to be looking at production blogs are those who are big fans of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's work as well as the director Greg Mottola. It would also have sci-fi lovers looking at the blog due to mentions on websites dedicated to sci-fi films. This would allow word to spread and more people would look at the blog due to the fact that there are so many star studded actors and actresses appearing in the film.
What is the purpose of using twitter to promote the film?
The purpose of using twitter to promote the film is to spread a message very quickly. Once Simon Pegg had posted a picture or a tweet thousands of people can see that on their twitter account and retweet it sending the message across the world quickly and easily. It would also make more people follow him on twitter and will therefore spread the message even furthur due to the vast amount of people on twitter. Also many people who have twitter also have facebook and the same thing can be done there. A simple picture or comment spread across the world for instant advertising or as it is most commonly known, word of mouth. By also using pictures from the film it allows people to become interested in what the film is about, they can see locations, characters and the CGI effects that have appeared in the film and that itself spreads the word around to other people who are interested in those areas in films.
